GOSS COUNTRY BOY

What began as an anonymous project shrouded in purposeful mystery that allowed the music to speak for itself, as we experience with early tracks ‘Time’ and ‘IJOTWIYDA’, has gradually become more personable. Following the debut Healthcare EP, Danish artist Goss is allowing the listener to get to know the musician behind all the fantastic pop. We first tracked this development in the intimate ‘There’s Just So Much A Heart Can Take’ from his Homeland Security EP, and now we’re seeing new sides to Goss’ nature in ‘Country Boy’. From the outside, you might assume that the flame-haired, piercing wearing and suited Goss is a city kid through-and-through, but rather what we feel in this minimalist pop tune is that he too suffers from the sense of losing oneself in a sea of people. As he explains: “I guess I'm longing for a more simple life. But the city and my life here in Copenhagen is like a drug. It's really hard to let go off." In fact, this song with its simple guitar lines, slick bass and stark backbeat was initially penned during an escape from the metropolis, “I wrote the song last summer. Me and my friend were tired of sitting inside our studios all day while everybody else were out there in the sun. So we borrowed a car and packed up our favourite guitars and drove to the sea. That's how Country Boy came to life.” - Hannah Thacker
